The İzmir Tarihi mobile application — implemented within the scope of the İzmir History Project carried out by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality in the historical city center — has taken its place in both the App Store and Google Play after an intensive work process.

The Historical City Center, which includes Kemeraltı, Basmane and Kadifekale, is a very special area with 2,500 years of history spanning Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and Republic period structures. The app is designed to help people discover this unique heritage.

İzmir Tarihi is not only for travelers; it also connects locals with the stories and hidden beauty of the city they have lived in for years. 258 significant points were selected across a rich category set — archaeological sites, mosques, inns, baths, synagogues, churches, cortejos, museums — with each point's story prepared using books, magazines, articles and the knowledge of experts familiar with the area.
